Body Shapes

Apple: You carry your weight in your mid section. You have a shapely bust and fantastic legs.istock_000008295173xsmall1

Column: Your torso is straight. You upper body and lower body is balanced and you have little or no waist definition.

Neat Hourglass: You have the "ideal" body shape. Your bust is in proportion with your hips and you have a well defined waist.

Full Hourglass: You have a full bust and voluptuous hips. You have a well defined waist.

Inverted Triangle: Your upper body is larger that your lower body. You have minimal waist definition with large shoulders and great legs.

Pear: You have a slender waist and your hip and thighs are larger than your upper body.

Petite: You have small bone structures and are under 160cm tall.

Attention Seeker: You are dramatic and like to be the centre of attention. You are a confident, bold and beautiful woman who loves to make a fashion statement! Think Madonna

Classy Lady: You are a classic woman who appreciates good quality and timeless fashion. You are usually withdrawn and have a kind nature to you. Think Kristin Davies

Problem Areas

Concave Chest: Your chest goes in. Choose styles that have fussy detail around the neckline and don't wear anything too low.

Pigeon Chest: Your chest sticks out. Angular, asymetrical and V Necks look best on you.

Short Neck: Wear clothing that has a deep low neckline such as a V, U or cowl shape. Choose jewellery that is long such as dropped necklaces and earrings, as this will make your neck look longer. Avoid high necklines and choker style necklaces.

Long Neck: Wear clothing with a neckline closer to your face for example, high collars and any line with some form of detail. Avoid any plunging necklines or long jewellery as this will make your neck look even longer. Avoid wearing strapless unless teamed with a large and dramatic necklace such as a choker style.

Thick Neck: Wear low deep necklines and do not cover the neck as it will only appear thicker. Avoid short blunt hair cuts as this will only emphasise this area. Choose dropped necklaces and dangly earrings to elongate the neck.

Narrow Shoulders: Choose styles that have volume, structure and/or detail around the shoulders. Try adding shoulder pads for a dramatic effect. Cap/extended, or raglan sleeves will look great on you.

Broad Shoulders: Opt for flowing soft styles that will skim over your shoulders. Wear tops that are fitted and bottoms that have volume to achieve a balanced look.

Short Arms: Wear clothes that have a short cap sleeve or are long sleeved. Don't wear anything in between. Spaghetti straps will elongate your arms.

Long Arms: Choose styles that are loose fitting around the arm, such as balloon sleeves and bat wing styles. 3/4 Sleeve styles will shorten your arms. Avoid spaghetti straps.

Large Arms: Wear loose fitting sleeves that are in a soft flowing fabric. Avoid anything fitted.

Skinny Arms: Wear sleeves that have detail to add volume to this area, such as flounces, ruffles and detailed texture.

Small Bust: Choose styles that have fussy detail on the bust and neck line and wear a good supportive bra to enhance your bust size. You can afford to be bold with colours and large dramatic prints/patterns on top.

Large Bust: V or square neck will be most flattering on you. Avoid styles that are high around your neck as it will make your bust look wide and give you the illusion of a thick neck.

Enlongated Bust: Wear styles that have a low deep neck line such as a V or scoop neck. Avoid styles which are really fitted and opt for soft flowing fabrics. Do not wear clothing which has a high neck or anything high waisted as it will emphasise your elongated bust.

Perky Bust: You are able to wear most style lines. A backless dress will look fabulous on you.

Short Waisted: You have a short torso and long legs. Avoid Styles that have a high waist line unless it is gathered or pleated directly below the bust line and does not reveal the position of your waist line. A thin belt will suit you best. A dropped waist line will be most ideal for you.

Long Waisted: You have a long torso and short legs. Styles that have a defined waist band that sits slightly above your natural waist would look great on you. Choose   thick belts and avoid 3/4 pants.

Rounded Mid Section: Choose clothing that falls over your stomach such as an empire line with some fullness direct below the bust. Avoid wearing a belt around your waist as it will emphasise your tummy. Try wearing shape wear under garments.

High Tummy: Similar to a rounded mid section just slightly higher. An empire line will also work on you. Avoid styles that are fitted.

Dropped Tummy: Wear styles that are waisted and have some fullness in the skirt to hide your tummy. Do not wear anything fitted in this area.

Round Buttocks: You have a voluptuous bottom and tend to have a swayed back. Avoid styles that have deep darts around the back waist. Wear darker colours and downplay detail around the buttocks.

Square Buttocks: You have a flat bottom. You want to look for garments with detail and fullness on the buttocks such as a bustle or pockets to give you a round look.

Saddlebags: You have extra weight on the side of your thighs. Wear styles that have vertical lines or detail in the middle of the garment to draw the eye in rather than out. Avoid skinny leg pants/tights as this will only emphasise this area. Wear A line or gathered skirts from the waist (if your waist is fine)

Chopstik Thighs: There is no difference in shape between your thighs and calves. Your legs are practically straight in shape. Avoid tights. Wear garments that create fullness around your thighs.

Thick Thighs: Avoid tight fitting bottoms, choose styles that skim over this area in a drapy soft fabrics. Finish just below the knee (the thinnest area on your leg)

Knob Knees: Your knees turn inwards. Try and wear garments that finish below your knees. Wear wide leg trousers

Thick Knees: Wear garments that finish where your calf starts to shape. If you want to wear a shorter style, try a dark stocking to disguise.

Skinny Calves: Boots look great on you, so choose shoes which wrap or are thick around your ankle. Be careful not to choose chunky styles, as it will look to heavier.

Thick Calves: Wear open style shoes with average sized straps as this will elongate your calf. Do not wear styles above your ankle.

Bony Ankles: Wear styles which wrap around your ankle or have heavy detail. This will create the illusion of a fuller ankle.

Thick Ankles: Wear open styled shoes.

High Arch: High heels fit best. When needing a flat sole, add gel cushions underneath arch. Open heels are most flattering on you. Try heels with a platform to increase height without increasing arch.

Full Sole: Flat shoes look best or an enclosed heel. If wearing open shoes, higher heels create a higher arch. Heels with platforms do not help your arch, so stick to heels with a high heel and no platform.

Long Toes: Wear shoes that are enclosed or have a wide toe area.
